THEROLE


The Cloud Software Engineer is part of a collaborative customer requirements based team effort and develops software components for streaming video systems that deliver entertainment to consumer devices. The team develops a web application that provides hundreds of thousands of users with the ability to watch movies and TV shows on many different devices over the internet.



EXPERIENCE/SKILLSREQUIRED



  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent

  • 3+ years experience designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise level, distributed systems using cloud services like Amazon AWS, etc

  • Experience programming in Java

  • Experience with at least one Java web application framework (Spring MVC, Wicket, Grails, etc.)

  • Production experience using SQL and relational DBs (ideally in a cloud deployed application)

  • Extensive experience with OO programming and design patterns

  • Experience developing multithreaded applications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, scale, and performance tune multithreaded, distributed, high performance systems

  • Motivated self-starting individual and a team player

  • Enthusiasm for new technologies and their applicability to our system and domain



ADDITIONALPREFERREDSKILLSANDEXPERIENCE



  • Familiarity with OO Design Patterns

  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development

  • Familiarity with Computational Theory

  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development

  • Experience with NoSql Databases (Cassandra preferably).

  • Experience in web UI development technologies (Javascript frameworks, CSS)

  • Experience with Flash, Flex/Actionscript

  • Experience with streaming media
